Overall Evaluation

When I had started thinking about my promotional package I had thought of the title ‘When Two Worlds Collide’ because this allowed me to show that anything is possible, and fate beats all. When I came up with this it immediately led to the thought that any two people can fall in love so I was going to show this, using two people who are for totally different groups for instance an upper class girl and a skater boy. I then came up with the saying ‘all is fair in love and war’ so that it had all interlinked together, for instance the war linking with the collision but also a double meaning for two people intertwining.

I had an idea of what I wanted my print products to look like and I had changed my original idea for my poster slightly, and it in a way both fits the romantic comedy genre but also in a way challenges this. I had looked at some common poses and decided from this to use the back to back pose but put a twist on it, having them holding hands secretly. For my poster the only thing in which had changed throughout my development was the pose and this was because the storyline had changed from her being a singer to an ordinary upper class girl, my storyline changed from something like Cinderella to the Notebook. This worked as a benefit however as it got more attention and better feedback. However, my magazine development had taken a bit longer as there was less feedback to work with and the actors were busy, and the poses looked to forces. So I then decided to choose someone who could work well together and be more relaxed with. For my magazine, I had originally planned at putting a film strip along the bottom of the page but I had then decided not to do this as it would look too busy and draw attention away from the image itself, and this worked as a benefit as there was no room when the film strip was on the page and it looks professional without.

I had researched into professional romantic comedies mainly to see what kind of texts they use and I discovered that they use mainly bright, bold, girlish and curly texts. Whereas in my audience research I found people like this feature but they want it to be more unique so instead of using curly texts I used bold so it appeals to both genders and used three colours, and these were grey, blue and pink to show that they are for both genders and is not over powerful to girls and shows grey as neutral with the others being the stereotypical boy girl colours. I had noticed that the colours for fonts, etc on print products advertising a film are also often shown in the clothing so I was planning on doing this to show a larger scale of continuity.

I decided not to use a specific release date on my products and decided to just show a month, but at first I was going to use “Summer 2012” to get people more built up to it. I researched into this as well and found that most of the movies are during the summer and I chose to use May as this is part of Spring instead of using the typical hot summer romance sector.

Amendments to Trailer

I had found from my audience feedback that my trailer was to be the section with the most amendments needed however they were not major amendments. From my research I had found that I needed to put in the green screen at the beginning with logos and credits at the end to make it more like a professional text and this is what I am going to do. However, I had also found that people thought I needed a lot more location shots so I will need to do some more recording in the time provided so these are all of the amendments needed as they had thought that the trailer had a decent storyline, and the music fitted well but it was also found that the music needs to blend in so that it all fits well with the narrative, and from previous research most people did not want a voice over to be used so I did not use this convention in my trailer.

The video below now shows the beginning of my new trailer in terms of logo's etc:
